ORIS and iRAP have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen their collaboration in the field of road safety. Through this MoU, both organizations recognize their common objective to support the road ecosystem in assessing safety through road design.

iRAP and ORIS will  work together to integrate iRAP’s Star Ratings, which is used for road safety inspection, road safety impact assessments and in designs, into the ORIS platform. Star Ratings are an objective measure of the level of safety which is ‘built-in’ to the road through more than 50 road attributes that influence risk for vehicle occupants, motorcyclists, bicyclists, and pedestrians.

The ORIS team has been certified over the last months to perform the iRAP safety assessments. ORIS is now collaborating with iRAP to ease the information flow between ORIS and ViDA, iRAP’s processing engine for Star Ratings. The integration is aimed to be completed by November 2022.

"We are proud to partner with iRAP to support our customers in positioning road safety as a key element of their project design, at the same level as environmental concerns and cost-efficiency. It is a great step towards enabling a holistic, sustainable, safe and responsible approach to road pavement design", explains Nicolas Miravalls, CEO of ORIS.

This integration will enable an automatic flow of the Star Ratings results into the ORIS dashboard. By including these assessment results to its platform, ORIS will ensure its users benefit from a holistic assessment of their road designs, from safety to environmental impact and cost concerns.

"We are delighted to partner with ORIS in this exciting initiative that has tremendous potential to enhance the road safety, sustainability and environment impact of road construction world-wide”, added James Bradford, iRAP Global Technical Director.
